Berlinale festival

This February cinematography re-booms in gold for Berlinale

Berlin is dedicated to an exciting celebration of the film industry this month; outstretched red carpets, curious audience, glowing stars. The 65th Berlinale, an illustrious cultural event is organized between 5 – 15 February this year.

Around 400 films are in store at the world’s largest public film festival. More than 300,000 tickets are sold already mostly to movie fans and ‘craftsmen’, as almost 20,000 professional visitors are awaited from 124 countries, including around 3,700 journalists. Art, glamour, parties and business are all inseparably linked at Berlinale. The close connection between the festival and market is a unique characteristic of the fest and always results in exceptional synergies.

The Berlin International Film Festival is a meeting platform of the global film community: film programmes, workshops, panel discussions build a base for cooperation and provide opportunities for creative interaction.

Among film productions, serial formats had attracted broad public interest around the globe in recent years. This year, Berlinale is giving this narrative form more scope and attention in its official programme as well as in the European Film Market and Berlinale Co-Production Market. The serial market is booming, which is good news for our company and our partner, Glomax Entertainment’s Stone in the River TV Series project, a thriller basing its visual elements and atmosphere on ‘Scandinavian features’ depicting characters that drift in the story - like stones in a river. Glomax Entertainment is a fully independent film production company founded in 2012 by a group of highly experienced professionals from the fields of film and advert industry having strong connection with this sector for over 20 years.

Glomax is looking forward to this year’s Berlinale Co-Production Market that is dedicating an extra half day to the topic of serial works.

The festival will be premiering eight series as part of its Special program. The European Film Market and Berlinale Co-Production Market will be hosting the Drama Series Days on February 9 and 10.

In the upcoming 10 ‘festival days’ Berlin welcomes major international productions with top stars, experimental independent films and art-house cinema from all around the world, to celebrate talent and creativity. The most emblematic productions can compete for the festival’s prestigious award; the Golden Bear.
